Hilfield CommunityThe Hilfield Friary Community, an Anglican Franciscan community who are based in Dorest, is looking for a new conservation focussed volunteer member to join them.

This is a great opportunity for someone (aged 19-30) with an interest in conservation and sustainable living (and, ideally, with some experience). At Hilfield we have a rich community life with a rhythm of daily prayer at the heart, therefore we are looking for someone from a Christian background (any church denomination).

There are a variety of things for you to join in with whilst at Hilfield. These include being part of a team of people caring for the Friary grounds and livestock. For this role there are much more specialised environmental opportunities:Hilfield Practical Activities

  • working with an experienced teacher on wise land management, conservation and sustainable living
  • learning how to grow and prepare food
  • discovering an integrated ecology – one that is environmental, social and spiritual
  • preparing material on conservation and sustainable living for schools and other visiting groups
