climate coalition 2Supporters and staff from A Rocha UK will join forces with people from every walk of life to protect the planet. They will descend on Westminster this month for Britain’s biggest ever climate change lobby.

Anglers, bee keepers, snowboarders, surfers, doctors, nuns, priests and farmers will unite for Speak Up For The Love Of on 17th June. They will call on the new Government to act on climate change.

CLEANER ECONOMY

Everyone will meet with their constituency MPs face-to-face on the embankment outside Westminster. They will explain why they want Parliament to hold back CO2 emissions and build a cleaner economy.

As a partner in the Climate Coalition, A Rocha UK will have its own official stall at the Emmanuel Centre. The venue will be a quiet space for people who want to take a break from the mass lobby. Churches And Theology Director Dr Ruth Valerio will be leading the service at the Emmanuel Centre. Main speaker will be Bishop of Salisbury Rt Rev Nick Holtam. Here are key timings for the day:

11-11-45am Assemble with A Rocha UK supporters at the Victoria Tower Gardens

12-1pm Ecumenical service at the Emmanuel Centre, Marsham Street

1-4pm Mass lobby

4.30-5.30pm Rally – Speak Up Finale and Call to Action

‘A Rocha UK is passionate that we take a stand against climate change,’ said Policy Officer Stephen Drury. ‘Thousands of us will gather in Westminster to express our passion for the things we love and want to protect. We’d love to see as many there as possible to show that A Rocha UK supporters care. Get to know fellow supporters – and walk to the service together. Look out for a large banner with our blue-and-white logo!’

Coaches are being organised from across the country. Those who need transport can email Libby, and check updates for a list of available coaches.
