Ashburnham Place became part of Arocha Uk’s ‘Partner in Action’ initiative in January 2020 and seeks to work as part of a network of other Christian land managers to demonstrate active care for the natural world.
Brief description of role:
Ashburnham Place, grounds team (3 days/ week):
With 220 acres of Capability Brown landscaped Grounds and Gardens enjoyed by many thousands of guests each year, the successful applicant will be working as part of a small, committed team. The applicant will be playing a key role in helping the Trust develop its understanding and practice of environmental sustainability and wildlife conservation.
The team is responsible for the upkeep of the wider grounds and the implementation of the Trust’s strategic plans for the site. We are looking for, a highly motivated individual, who will have a passion for nature, an upbeat ‘can-do’ attitude and can work to a high level of professionalism.
The role will include practical aspects such as, tree planting, wildflower meadow management, waste management/ composting, but also, encouraging guest and wider community engagement in creation and effective communication of our sustainability goals.
A Rocha UK, Partners in Action administrator (2 days/ week):
A Rocha UK (ARUK) is a Christian charity working for the protection and restoration of the natural world and committed to equipping Christians and churches in the UK to care for the environment.The Partners in Action is a network of Christian land managers working with A Rocha UK to transform land for nature and people. The successful applicant will be working with the conservation team.
The role will include: administration for the PiA programme such as research, data analyses, writing and maintaining social media posts, contacting partners for good news stories, assisting with events.
The successful applicant will report to the PiA coordinator who is based at Ashburnham Place.
Board and shared lodging are included. The intern will receive £25/wk. ‘pocket money’ for essential items.
Based at Ashburnham Place, the role offered is three days a week at Ashburnham Place, as part of the Grounds Team and two days a week working with A Rocha UK as part of the Partners in Action Team.
As an ambassador, the successful candidate would need to represent the values of both the Ashburnham Christian Trust and A Rocha UK.

Duration of post: Initial term of 1 year, extended by agreement
