Our sister organisation, A Rocha Canada, reported on their 2024/2025 activities, including some headline stats around ‘Farming as Conservation’.
Two acres of land on their three-acre regenerative farm have been switched to no-till, meaning no digging or stirring of the soil, which, among other things, reduces soil erosion. They may not be ploughing those fields, but their harvest is certainly being scattered …
The harvest went on for 24 weeks, and a third of the produce, that’s around 3,180kg of vegetables and herbs, was given away to vulnerable people in the local community as part of their ‘Farm to Families’ programme. 157 households received their weekly produce through the ‘Community Supported Agriculture Programme’ and 50 families in need were given veggies every week. Seedlings were distributed to local partners too – about 3,000 of them, seedlings that is, not partners!
