This is a full-time residential role, based in Southall, west London, assisting the Education Officer with A Rocha UK’s education programme.
To assist and support the Education Officer in carrying out the full education programme – environmental encounters, park specials, summer playschemes – for A Rocha UK in Hayes and Southall, west London.
To create enjoyable activities to make children appreciate that as well as the celebratory WOW factor in appreciating wildlife and wild places, there is a need to help them understand the current precarious state many species and ecosystems are in. In addition we need to communicate our Christian Hope that A Rocha UK stands for in terms of being good stewards for the future.
The education programme includes the planning and preparation of resources to deliver interactive, fun, stimulating outdoor learning experiences. The schools work will be linked to the national curriculum. Engaging assemblies and indoor wet weather alternatives are also an essential part of the programme.
To split your time approximately 50:50 between the Wolf Fields future project and Minet Country Park – A Rocha UK’s flagship ‘living legacy’ project – as determined by the Education Officer. Provide an education lead on a particular Wolf Fields project which will be determined by the Education Officer and Conservation Director and your specific interests for mutual benefit and as part of your professional development. This will also include regular consultation with all parties but specifically with the Education Officer on the link with children’s learning and enjoyment.
