She is the only woman to have walked across the world’s last wildernesses to both poles and climbed the highest mountain on every continent. Now Jo Gambi will take others to greater heights – by leading A Rocha UK’s first ever adventure conference next spring.
The second British woman to have conquered Everest’s North/North East Ridge, Jo (pictured below) will give a key talk at Wild Wonderful World – which is about ‘reconnecting faith, adventure and caring for God’s world’.
A committed Christian, author and explorer, Jo will enthuse the young – and young at heart – with stories of faith, courage and a determination to make links between adventure, faith and caring for God’s world.
Run in partnership with Oxfordshire-based outdoor pursuits centre Adventure Plus, the event will include practical options from bushcraft and bonfires, through to kayaking and wildlife trails.
Suitable for anyone over 18, the conference will also feature contributions from World Wildlife Fund chief David Nussbaum, Hilfield Friary’s Brother Sam, A Rocha UK Conservation Director Andy Lester and Adventure Plus founder Jon Cox.
An interdenominational charity, Adventure Plus has worked with more than 60,000 young people and adults through outdoor adventures since 1990 – including some of the most vulnerable in society. The latest organisation to join A Rocha UK’s Partners In Action network, Adventure Plus recently purchased a new 50-acre base at Windmill Farm. They are developing a new residential adventure centre there, with A Rocha UK providing conservation expertise.
Wild Wonderful World takes place from 22nd – 24th April 2016. A number of booking options offer to suit a range of budgets – from day conference to full board – and from twin en-suite bedrooms through to camping. There is a 20 percent early bird discount for residential places.
