Practical Conservation

A Rocha UK is actively engaged in practical local conservation work – many exciting new projects and partnerships are coming to a place near you!

A Rocha UK previously worked at Minet Country Park – part of our inaugural 'Living Waterways' conservation project – which was inspired, developed and launched in partnership with the London Borough of Hillingdon. A Rocha UK was instrumental in transforming Minet from a derelict and degraded area into a Green Flag site and country park in 2003. Minet hosted a science-based internship programme, bird ringing, and habitat management work. More than 5,000 children have visited the park for A Rocha UK eco-education events.

Building on our experience and success at Minet Country Park, we commenced work to transform a second urban site – Wolf Fields, in Norwood Green – into a haven for local wildlife and people. We also manage a rural reserve, Foxearth Meadows in north Essex. Both of these reserves are part of our growing Partner in Action conservation network.

We think these kinds of activities are an expression of Christian hope and mission – see Why We Do It.
