On 5 June, we celebrated the launch of our new Partner in Action, Holy Island (Lindisfarne), just off the Northumberland coast. We were blessed with glorious sunshine, and the beautiful weather highlighted the exciting potential of the Peace Garden.
The celebration included a short service on the site of the future wildflower meadow, followed by the planting of a Maple Flame tree to symbolise Saint Aidan, the “Flame of the North.” Our hope and prayer is that, just as God worked through Saint Aidan to bring light and hope to the region, the Peace Garden will become a place where God’s love inspires hope, compassion, and new life for all who visit.
Partners in Action is a growing network of Christian land managers demonstrating active care for the natural world. Across the UK, our Partners are caring for the biodiversity of their land. Using our Target 25 list, they are supporting the recovery of declining species and threatened habitats. Another key part of being a Partner in Action is to welcome and engage visitors with a message of hope for creation through practical action and demonstration of good conservation practice.
